YOUR MISTAKES; WHAT DID YOU LEARN?

Fruitful mistakes
THERE IS AN OLD SAYING THAT “A PERSON WHO’S NEVER MADE A MISTAKE HAS NEVER MADE ANYTHING”. SO WHAT WE MUST DO IS NOT DWELL ON THE MISTAKES WE’VE MADE BUT TO CONTEMPLATE THE FRUITFULNESS OF OUR PAST ERRORS. WHAT DID YOU LEARN AND HOW HAVE THESE LESSONS SHAPED YOUR LIFE? I KNOW THAT I HAVE MADE SOME MISTAKES, SO MANY THAT I COULDN’T BEGIN TO COUNT THEM. BUT THROUGH ALL OF THEM, THROUGH MY FOOLISHNESS, THROUGH MY FOLLY, THROUGH MY PURSUIT OF THE WRONG THINGS AT THE WRONG TIMES, GOD HAS BEEN FAITHFUL TO ME AND CONTINUED TO BLESS ME. GOD IS ALWAYS THERE TO PROVIDE A CUSHION WHEN WE FALL. ONLY A GRACIOUS AND FORGIVING GOD WOULD DO THAT. WHAT WE MUST DO IS TO TURN OUR ERRORS INTO VICTORIES AS GOD TURNS OUR MISTAKES INTO LITTLE MIRACLES.

Watch Your Mouth

Proverbs 15, verse 2 says that the tongue of the wise uses knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out foolishness. It goes on to say in verse 7 that the lips of the wise disperse knowledge. Paraphrased, don’t be a fool and spread nonsense rather listen to people who have shown their wisdom, knowledge and character. So many people are always talking. Talking loud and saying nothing, you know who they are. You hear them all the time and they always seem to push their uninformed opinion on everyone else. Beware, that you are not taken in by what they say. Listen to them and remember the word of God that tells us that a wholesome tongue is the tree of life. Be careful what you say and filter what you hear.

The Dreamer

I happened into a meeting the other evening and to my amazement I saw a gathering of powerful and influential black folk discussing how to better our people. I saw politicians, clergy, business and community leaders. It seemed that they all had checked their personal agendas and they genuinely were concerned about all of us. They weren’t fussing and fighting. They weren’t sniping at each other and putting each other down. They were not being disagreeable. They actually seemed as if they loved each other and they had been able to put aside their personalities, politics and pride and put black people first and foremost. I just knew that we were about to make some progress. I was so happy. Then I woke up.

What's Love Got To Do With It!

THE BIBLE ADMONISHES US TO PRAY FOR EACH OTHER. IT ALSO TELLS US TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS AS WE LOVE OURSELVES. BECAUSE THAT IS THE WAY WE PROVE THAT WE REALLY LOVE GOD. THE BIBLE ALSO SAYS THAT WE CANNOT LOVE GOD WHOM WE HAVE NOT SEEN AND HATE OUR NEIGHBOR WHOM WE SEE EVERY DAY. IT GETS EVEN HARDER WHEN THE WORD TELLS US TO LOVE OUR ENEMIES AND TO DO GOOD TO THOSE WHO DO BAD THINGS TO US. AS CHRISTIANS, WE HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MAKING THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE IN WHICH TO LIVE. IN ORDER FOR US TO SUCCEED, WE MUST PRAY FOR EVERYONE, EVEN PEOPLE WITH WHOM WE DISAGREE. WE MUST ALSO FIND ENOUGH LOVE IN OUR HEARTS TO LOVE PEOPLE WHO HATE US. DOING THOSE THINGS MAY NOT BE EASY, BUT AS FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST, WHO LOVED HIS ENEMIES AND FORGAVETHEM FOR HIS OWN MURDER, WE ARE COMMANDED TO FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLE. WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS CHRISTIAN LOVE SHOWN WITHOUT RESERVATION AND WITHOUT DISCRIMINATION.
