God has been so good to me; to use a cliché, “better than I deserve”, but that’s so true. I’m reminded of a passage in the Bible, Luke, chapter 7, where Jesus and his disciples were having a conversation. Always one to teach, Jesus gave an example to them that certainly applies to me. He asked them if they had two debtors, one who owed say fifty dollars while the other owed $500. If both debts were forgiven which debtor would likely love the forgiver most? Of course the obvious answer would be the one most forgiven. Well Jesus died so God could forgive us. Whether you have a little to be forgiven for, or whether your sins are many. I have good reason to love God more as He has forgiven me so much.

Words Have Power!

The power of the tongue is amazing. YOU’VE BEEN THERE, RIGHT? BUT IN ALL OF THAT WE MUST COME TO THE REALIZATION THAT IT IS NOT IN OUR POWER TO CONTROL THE FUTURE, THAT’S GOD’S TASK. WE CAN SET OUR SIGHTS ON SOMETHING, WORK HARD TO GET IT AND STILL NOT, BECAUSE IT WAS NOT IN GOD’S WILL. WE CAN PRAY FOR INCREASED STRENGTH AND COURAGE, AND THEN JUMP AT A LOUD CLASP OF THUNDER. We all know that but I’m here to proclaim that I love Him and that He is better to me than I deserve. God has blessed me so richly, so enormously. He has truly been better to me that I’ve been to myself. He’s given me strength when I made myself tired. He allowed me to rest when my troubles had me weary. God gives me peace in the midst of turmoil. He’s blessed my undertakings and my comings and goings. I know I could never repay God but there is something I can do. I can treat others better. Do you ever come to the end of the day and say what happened to the time? We are probably all guilty of being involved in so many activities that we lose track of time and wonder why we have not accomplished all of the things we wanted. I have found that I do better when I take the time to reflect on the activities of the day and make a game plan. When you make that game plan, make time for work, make time for leisure activities with family and friends, make time for yourself and above all make time for God everyday. No matter how much time we spend in all areas of our lives, the time spent with God will yield the greatest rewards. Use your time wisely. It is one of the most valuable gifts from God that we have; once it’s gone, there is no way to recapture it. Cherish every moment and make the best use of your time.

Forgive?

To ere is human, to forgive divine. We have no doubt all heard that statement and I am here to tell you it is not that easy to forgive. Another statement we have all made from time to time forgive and forget. But when you forgive, you don’t have to forget. When you forgive someone you understand, when you forgive someone you remember but you move on. When you forgive someone, you continue to give them love even though they have done you wrong. The greatest example of love is found in John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son so that we could have forgiveness through Jesus”. God does not forget our sins, he forgives our sins and we should do the same for our brothers and our sisters.

Practice what you Preach!

Faith without works is but an empty shell, promising on the outside, but further examination detects little or no substance. It is essential that we put our faith to work. It is imperative that we step out on faith and on God's word if we are to have productive and substantive lives. A true believer demonstrates his faith through, among other things, obedience. Start with obeying God's commandment to love your fellow men, even when you disagree with them on some issues. Obeying God's commandment to put him first, even though the world and our own flesh want to do otherwise. It takes faith to live according to God's will. But to just say you have faith and not live it out accomplishes nothing at all. Put your faith to work, practice what you preach.

Keys to Success

Ever been involved in something that just wasn’t progressing the way you knew it could or thought that it would. Well I certainly have. Get this, if you are not progressing the way you think you should, first you need to think about the effort you are putting forth and see if you can turn it up a bit. I’ve had a chance to see how some successful people acted and reacted and studied their habits. What I’ve learned from them and from my own experience is that successful people don’t just get there own time they get there ahead of time. And they are not the ones watching the clock to see when its time to go. They always seem to put in more than a full’s days work. Successful people do more than enough and they always outwork those around them. Successful people aren’t selfish in fact; they put others first and they create ways for other to prosper and to succeed. Jesus was successful because he paid the ultimate price and he didn’t do it for himself. He did it for you and he did it for me. If you want to be successful I mean truly successful you will start early, stay at it longer, put in the extra effort and put others first. You’ll do more than enough then you just might achieve the kind of success that God has in store for you.

Watch Your Tongue

The power of the tongue is amazing. The next time you may be tempted to say something negative think about the power you have to change the course of a person's day by simply speaking a few positive words.

A True Christian

One of the key principles of Christianity is that of forgiveness. That says to us that since none of us are perfect and since we are prone to make mistakes and errors we need to have forgiveness for the things we do to other people. But what we must remember is that forgiveness goes both ways and in order to be forgiven one must forgive because we all have things we need forgiveness for. If you want God to forgive you then you must be willing to forgive others. We cannot continue to hold grudges especially against people who have come and asked for your forgiveness and told you they were sorry. Because we are all human and we continue to fail, we have to continue to ask for forgiveness and we also need to be willing to forgive again and again. After-all, God does it why can’t you!

Trusting in God..

Believing and trusting in God doesn’t remove the obstacles we encounter in life, it helps us deal with them. God allows all of us to experience life in its entirety. We all have some happiness and some sadness. We all, no matter how good or bad we are, we will have some ups and downs. God allows it to rain on the just as well as the unjust. So no matter what kind of Christian you are, you will have to overcome some obstacles in your life and those obstacles are as constant as the sun. So, what do you do when you don't know what to do? The answer is the same as it has been for over 2,000 years, trust in God through His Son Jesus, and know that although He will not remove life’s burdens and problems, life’s obstacles, He’ll give you the strength to overcome them.

Oh Give Thanks

How often do we really stop to give thanks? How often do we sincerely acknowledge the fact that our blessings are provided through the grace of God? It is God who has us where we are, not our own deeds, abilities, not our own knowledge or our talent. I don’t know about you but I have truly been blessed. God has provided for my every need and He’s been with me in my hours of trouble and despair. SO WHAT WE MUST DO IS NOT DWELL ON THE MISTAKES WE’VE MADE BUT TO CONTEMPLATE THE FRUITFULNESS OF OUR PAST ERRORS. WHAT DID YOU LEARN AND HOW HAVE THESE LESSONS SHAPED YOUR LIFE? I KNOW THAT I HAVE MADE SOME MISTAKES, SO MANY THAT I COULDN’T BEGIN TO COUNT THEM. BUT THROUGH ALL OF THEM, THROUGH MY FOOLISHNESS, THROUGH MY FOLLY, THROUGH MY PURSUIT OF THE WRONG THINGS AT THE WRONG TIMES, GOD HAS BEEN FAITHFUL TO ME AND CONTINUED TO BLESS ME. GOD IS ALWAYS THERE TO PROVIDE A CUSHION WHEN WE FALL. ONLY A GRACIOUS AND FORGIVING GOD WOULD DO THAT. It goes on to say in verse 7 that the lips of the wise disperse knowledge. Paraphrased, don’t be a fool and spread nonsense rather listen to people who have shown their wisdom, knowledge and character. So many people are always talking. Talking loud and saying nothing, you know who they are. You hear them all the time and they always seem to push their uninformed opinion on everyone else. Beware, that you are not taken in by what they say. Listen to them and remember the word of God that tells us that a wholesome tongue is the tree of life. Be careful what you say and filter what you hear.

The Dreamer

I happened into a meeting the other evening and to my amazement I saw a gathering of powerful and influential black folk discussing how to better our people. I saw politicians, clergy, business and community leaders. It seemed that they all had checked their personal agendas and they genuinely were concerned about all of us. They weren’t fussing and fighting. They weren’t sniping at each other and putting each other down. They were not being disagreeable. They actually seemed as if they loved each other and they had been able to put aside their personalities, politics and pride and put black people first and foremost. I just knew that we were about to make some progress. I was so happy. IT ALSO TELLS US TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS AS WE LOVE OURSELVES. BECAUSE THAT IS THE WAY WE PROVE THAT WE REALLY LOVE GOD. THE BIBLE ALSO SAYS THAT WE CANNOT LOVE GOD WHOM WE HAVE NOT SEEN AND HATE OUR NEIGHBOR WHOM WE SEE EVERY DAY. IT GETS EVEN HARDER WHEN THE WORD TELLS US TO LOVE OUR ENEMIES AND TO DO GOOD TO THOSE WHO DO BAD THINGS TO US. AS CHRISTIANS, WE HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF MAKING THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE IN WHICH TO LIVE. IN ORDER FOR US TO SUCCEED, WE MUST PRAY FOR EVERYONE, EVEN PEOPLE WITH WHOM WE DISAGREE. WE MUST ALSO FIND ENOUGH LOVE IN OUR HEARTS TO LOVE PEOPLE WHO HATE US. DOING THOSE THINGS MAY NOT BE EASY, BUT AS FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST, WHO LOVED HIS ENEMIES AND FORGAVETHEM FOR HIS OWN MURDER, WE ARE COMMANDED TO FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLE. WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW IS CHRISTIAN LOVE SHOWN WITHOUT RESERVATION AND WITHOUT DISCRIMINATION.

Welcome to 'Nspirational Moments

I'm pleased to bring to you online, 'Nspirational Moments: A byproduct heard weekly on the Myriad Music Gospel Countdown www.GospelCountdown.com.
